The Lenasia Tennis Association was built around a simple belief: that tennis should have a strong and lasting home in the Lenasia community.
In 2015, a group of tennis enthusiasts came together with a common purpose: to breathe new life into the tennis facilities at the Lenasia Tech Grounds, which had fallen into disrepair. What began as an effort to restore the courts soon grew into something much bigger. It became the beginning of a renewed and organised tennis community, built by people who believed that the game still had a place in the heart of Lenasia.
In 2018, the Lenasia Tennis Association was formally launched with a vision of creating opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. Since then, the association has continued to grow through coaching, competitive leagues, tournaments, social tennis and grassroots development. What started with a group of people working to restore courts has gradually developed into an association bringing players, families, coaches, volunteers and the wider community together through tennis.
Today, LTA's purpose reaches beyond simply producing better tennis players. It is about creating a place where a young player can discover the game for the first time, where adults can remain active and competitive, and where players with greater ambitions can challenge themselves and progress to higher levels of competition.
At the heart of it all is the belief that tennis can offer something to everyone. It can teach discipline and resilience, create friendships and community, provide healthy competition and open doors to opportunities that may otherwise never have been imagined.
The journey that began with the restoration of the courts in 2015 continues today. With the support of our members, coaches, volunteers, partners and the wider Lenasia community, LTA is working towards building an association that gives more people the opportunity to play, compete, develop and succeed through tennis.
Our journey is still being written.
To establish Lenasia as a thriving centre for tennis development, competition and community participation, creating a place where players can discover the game, develop their abilities and find their place within the tennis community.
To grow tennis in Lenasia by creating accessible opportunities for players of all ages and abilities, developing young talent, supporting coaches and volunteers, hosting quality competitions and building partnerships that strengthen the game within the community.
We believe every player should have the opportunity to learn, improve and reach their potential. Whether someone is picking up a racquet for the first time or working towards competing at a higher level, there should always be a pathway to grow.
Tennis is more than a game. It brings people together, creates friendships and gives young people a positive environment in which to grow. The strength of LTA lies not only in its players, but in the people and families who form part of the wider tennis community.
Competition gives players the opportunity to challenge themselves and discover what they are capable of. Through leagues, tournaments and competitive fixtures, LTA aims to create opportunities for players to test themselves, improve and enjoy the competitive side of the game.
Tennis teaches patience, concentration, resilience and responsibility. These lessons extend far beyond the court and can become part of the character that players carry with them throughout life.
Talent can come from anywhere. LTA believes that a player's background should not determine how far they can go. Our aim is to create pathways that give promising players the opportunity to develop, compete and progress.
The game is built on respect. We believe in treating opponents, officials, coaches, volunteers and fellow members with respect, both on and off the court. How the game is played matters just as much as the result.
The history of tennis in Lenasia has already been written by generations of players, coaches, families and volunteers who gave their time and energy to the game. LTA is now part of that continuing story.
The courts may provide the setting, and the racquets and balls may provide the tools, but it is the people who give tennis its life.
The story continues, and the next chapter belongs to the generations still to come.
